How to Deal with Heartbreak

by remembertoexhale

Coming from someone who
has had to deal with it one too many times than what is necessary
When he, or she says “we need to talk”
contrary to popular belief,
do not sit down
if someone is going to punch you in the gut
you want to make sure that you are ready to take it
and throw some of your own
when someone says “It’s not you, it’s me”
hear them out
sometimes they have a valid point
which might not make it any less selfish but still
if they start to point fingers at you
own it, own up to your mistakes
but don’t, don’t you dare let them walk all over you
if you’re going to get dumped
you may as well get dumped honourably
fight hard
because words left unsaid are words that will torture your gut
and I would rather say things that might hurt
than not sleep for the next year thinking about how I could have stood up for myself better
and when they kiss you goodbye
kiss back
remember why you loved them for the last time
then sit down
when it is over
sit down
drink some tea
or some whiskey
cry if you need to
but not a minute longer than necessary
don’t waste your tears, you might need them
for something more important
do something you love
go to the place that makes you happy
and stay there for a while if you need to
but don’t get lost there because as The Beatles sung
“Ob- La-Di, Ob-La-Da, life goes on brah”
lastly, just listen to the Beatles. They’re still a good band.
